Excellence in Risk Management = Saving Taxpayer Money

While serving as chief of staff, Hogaboam served as the risk management coordinator. He helped implement and supervise city-wide risk-avoidance training and helped the city realize savings for achieving benchmarks for performance discounts and reductions in the city’s claims. ICRMP (the city’s insurer) worked closely with Hogaboam, entrusting him with access to claims’ management and asset tracking, saving yet additional money for the Nampa taxpayer by taking on additional duties. During his tenure as chief of staff, Nampa saved about $100K each year based on performance benchmarks and premium reductions from Hogaboam’s direct involvement with claims and asset management. Nampa saved hundreds of thousands of dollars due to this arrangement in entrusting Hogaboam with more direct management and its city-wide performance.

In recognition of the city’s performance and culture, ICRMP recognized Nampa for exceptional performance in risk management in 2022 with their first-ever Excellence in Risk Management Award. This is a testament to Mayor Kling’s priority of a safety culture, Hogaboam’s proactive leadership and collaboration with ICRMP (and their training resources) in carrying out these objectives, and the dedicated city employees committing themselves to best practices to better serve the public.
