“We must commit to repairing, restoring, and reinvesting in what our community already owns. That’s why I propose a ‘Fix First’ policy platform.”
🏛️ Policy Objectives
- Infrastructure First
Prioritize repair and upgrade of existing roads, sidewalks, public buildings, and utilities before compounding more obligations. - Fiscal Discipline
I will generate and publish life-cycle costing and depreciation forecasting for all capital projects. Maintenance plans must be reviewed before project approval. - Legacy Stewardship
Publish an asset inventory and rating system to identify aging infrastructure and develop a transparent reinvestment schedule. This is our commitment to public to take care of our existing assets. - Community Engagement
Create a participatory budgeting process that lets residents prioritize “fix first” projects in their neighborhoods. Public assets need public input as to utilization value and prioritization. - Economic Impact
Quantify the return on maintenance investment in preserving existing property value and in encouraging private investment. Also quantify the cost avoidance for citizens when potholes are fixed more quickly, for example, reducing cost and time for alignments. There are many other metrics for quality of life to be measured by infrastructure maintenance. - ADA Prioritization
Sync the “Fix First” policy with the city’s ADA transition plan to ensure annual investment to improve accessibility and livability for Nampa’s citizens. - Improve Safety
Prioritize projects that improve safety. Track outcomes and quantify risk through proper assessment. - Transparency & Accountability
Publish annual “Fix First Scorecards” showing progress, costs avoided, and reinvestment outcomes.
